Hannover Re has been writing Marine business from the very beginning of its operations in 1966. We remember well that our first name was ATR – Aktiengesellschaft für Transport- und Rückversicherung, meaning Marine and Reinsurance Company Ltd. When German regulations did not allow us any longer to transact primary and reinsurance business under one roof, we started to concentrate on Marine Reinsurance business. This has always been a core class for Hannover Re, and we are gratified that by now we have been accepted as one of the major reinsurers operating in worldwide Marine markets.
Our goal is to offer our clients, insurance companies as well as brokers, solutions meeting their needs and requirements perfectly.
We are present in all classes, and we are well equipped and prepared to offer quoting and leading services, especially on a non-proportional basis. Our financial strength allows us to provide first class capacity and security. In order to achieve the necessary return on equity, we do not aim at growing our market share aggressively, but rather develop a quality book of business based on our state of the art risk based capital models.
